Information Overload!

Nancy & I are so blessed to have our grandaughter Abby stay with us some this week.  As I tucked her in bed tonight and then went to my office to catch up on some blogging I started thinking how in the world would she ever be able to take in all the information that is available to us today.  When I was her age over 50 years ago the amount of information I had to deal with didn’t even compare to what kids today are bombarded with.

And then I remembered our supper last night when right before we started to eat she said: "Grandpa, we need to say a prayer first".  So, I asked her to lead it.  She asked God to bless us all, and then she included every pet we have as well as her’s at home, and even her cousin’s dog.  She talked about God helping us to be more loving and kind, and being good to those who don’t have as much.

What I saw in that little prayer was a beautiful heart of love and I knew that it was that heart that would get her though all the piles and piles of information that is overloading our lives.  I have 9 grandchildren and I have to admit there are times that I worry about what kind of a world they will live in, but no matter what comes there way it is LOVE that will get them through it.

Paul said that knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.  I am so grateful that my grown children are teaching my grandkids to stay in touch with the love that God has given to each of us.

Yes cliff, a little child shall lead them.We are free to be the children of God throught the message of the Gospel. And have total faith and confidence in the God of all comfort and love.Your little grandchild has this love birthed in her by the spirit of grace.I pray as she grows that the vaill will not be pulled over her wee eyes. And she has her dreams fulfilled as she grows up into adult hood. She has a great start in life throught you familys love and understanding of the Gospel.
Thankyou for sharing this lovely story with us here.

That is my ABBYGIRL and I love her with all of my heart. It is interesting to read what my Dad has written because she has been with them all week so I am truly missing her and it is nice to hear what she is doing when she is away from me. Every parent worries that their child is being respectful and happy when they are away from their guardians!
When she was first born I really struggled with whether I should bring her up in church the way I was or if I should just be true to myself and have the courage to take trust in my own belief and lead by example in hopes that she will find her own relationship with God.
We do not go to Church and Our “prayers” are made up of random moments and conversations about life during the day, typically when we are fishing or just sitting on the front porch swing. We are constantly trying to acknowlede Gods love through every day occurances. Saying thanks to God for just simply guiding us through each day with love has really been enough for Abby to acknowledge her purpose and her relationship with God. After reading what my Dad said about Abby I feel even more confident that she is well on her way!
She is the best thing I have ever done in my life :)

Cliff- The same thoughts went thru my mind last weekend as I sat and held my sleeping granddaughter (it was only for 1 1/2 hours!!). What a beautiful, innocent creation!!
