We Are All Connected

I am coming to believe more and more in our absolute connectedness and the more I believe it the more I find myself trusting in a perfect God, a perfect universe, and a perfect life.

Let me quote from Gertrude W. van Pelt, M.D. who wrote the following in 1940:  You can read her entire article by clicking here.

When man realizes that he is one with all that is, inwards and outwards, high and low; that he is one with them, not merely as members of a community are one, not merely as individuals of an army are one, but like the molecules of our own flesh, like the atoms of the molecule, like the electrons of the atom, composing one unity — not a mere union but a spiritual unity — then he sees truth.

Regardless of how distasteful I might find a fellow human being there is something deep, deep within my being that tells me I am connected.  The same is so of someone I really admire.  And the same is so of all of creation.  As Gertrude says this is a spiritual unity and the more I realize that fact the more I begin to see truth.

I am also realizing that in our connectedness everything that I think, say, and do has an impact on the entire universe I have come to call God.  Choosing negative acts, thoughts, and words will have a negative impact on the whole, and choosing positive acts, thoughts, and words will have a positive impact on the whole.  Very simple and yet this profound system of connectedness and consequences is perfect and the more we trust it the less we try to be separate and judgemental of others.  Unfortunately religion has played a major part in hiding this great truth of our connectedness thus causing extreme division and chaos by the negative energy it continues to spew.

Which ever you choose, negative or positive energy will not change the love that God has for us because it is his love that connects us and we CAN"T undo it.  When this body I live in has completed it’s purpose the love that connects me to the whole will continue to connect me.

Where will I be?  What will I be?  these are age old questions that we may never answer in our limited state of being now, but regardless, all we really need to remember is that it is God’s LOVE that connects us and that will NEVER change.

Rom 8:38-39  For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

So, don’t beat yourself up so much.  When you do that I hurt and the world hurts along with us.  Jesus gave us all some very good advice:  Learn to love your self and your neighbor and in so doing you are really loving God whom we have always been CONNECTED TO.

Our absolute connectedness is so true Cliff. Yet religion so separates people. Heck, they can’t even see themselves as connected much less the rest of the world yet that was the very purpose of Christs work as evidenced in the following sayings of John as he quoted our Savior….

“I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me. “The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me.”
    (Joh 17:20-23 NASB)

Jesus is praying for the world to know the good news of our connectedness in Him, not just that of the religious. When those who claim to believe can see this connectedness and extend this love that the Father had for His Son to the rest of the world, that is also loved in the same way, then the perfection of this awesome creation will be evident and the rest of the creation can stop groaning as it awaits us to get it.

Its seeing this amazing truth that can bring real peace to this war torn world. Its the only thing that will. When we can embrace each other in the light of our eqaulity then what else may I ask would prevent us from loving one another. Then the only thing left would be to act it out, but unless we first see we are truly equal and connected then it can never happen.
As I was reading through this post what came to mind is how religion and its many faces and names has served to divide us instead of unite us, how very sad indeed. I’m just grateful that regardless of how it plays out in my lifetime or how I percieve things it has all been made right in the cross of Christ. This event alone stands above time and remains untainted by man. I must believe this to have any faith at all.
Yes Steve I do believe Jesus got His prayer answered, when He asked the Father that they would All be made one. What hope we have in Christ. He truly is our All in All.
Thanks Cliff for continuing to share such good news, have a great weekend.

Connectedness has been a concept associated with New Age and Eastern thought and as such has been outlawed and sidelined by orthodoxy. In its place, various ideas of exclusivity, division and categorisation have dominated.

It’s time we got over the Newtonian view of the universe as a closed system machine, and the Descartian View of man as a mere individual, and started realising that most leading science of the last 100 years has began to take a view of life as being all about relatedness.

I’d encourage you to be very bold in declaring what the bible says about connectedness. We live in a world where we are more aware of difference than similarity, and where it suits those in power to divide and rule, both economically, politically and spiritually.

Of course the doctrine of Hell, Everlasting Separation, is the lynchpin underlying EVERY philosophy of division, for it is the Ultimate Division. How does G-d who is ONE, at the end of all things, cause all things to become TWO? It’s philosophical annihillation, and utter nonsense to any thinking (non-brainwashed) person.

So as I see it Grace is intimately part of the Connectedness of all things. Keep up the investigation!

Don R, I would say I hope everything is alright, but I know it will be alright because we live and have our being in a Perfect God.

Big Love to you and your family.
