Stars…often made to feel like worms.

The following is a comment I made to a post on JP’s blog.

Adam said…."I’ll give my universalist friends one thing…Satan and damnation are hardly worth discussing. The devil is a pathetic little figure when juxtaposed to the glory of Jesus. He’d be laughable…"

Your comment made me think of this….

"How you have fallen from heaven, O star of the morning, son of the dawn! You have been cut down to the earth, You who have weakened the nations! "But you said in your heart, ‘I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God, And I will sit on the mount of assembly In the recesses of the north. ‘I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.’ "Nevertheless you will be thrust down to Sheol, To the recesses of the pit. "Those who see you will gaze at you, They will ponder over you, saying, ‘Is this the man who made the earth tremble, Who shook kingdoms, Who made the world like a wilderness And overthrew its cities, Who did not allow his prisoners to go home?’
(Isa 14:12-17 NASB)

Could it be that Satan is no more than a spirit who manifests through men? A spirit that, through confusion and divisive tactics has wracked havoc on a confused world?

Could his workings be through nothing more than men who are tricked into wishing to be exalted…to claim their superiority over the rest of us "stars".

BTW Adam, I would rather not be labeled as a universalist or any other "ist", "ian" or "ism". I am just a man but also a star in my Fathers eye, much as are you and JP. I suspect that if we were to clearly see the depth of His love for us all, we would realize that to Him we are all stars, apples of His gracious eyes, but often deceived by a lying spirit that wishes to make us less….that wishes to lock us up in accusation and guilt. I wish only to be seen as one with all my brothers and sisters, safely in Him.

I was once a prisoner of my own pride, on the one hand, and/or my guilt on the other, (satan could care less which as long as he keeps me one or the other) but I was permitted to "go home" when my Savior led captivity captive. It is good to be a star and a son in Fathers house….restored and sitting at the table of the feast prepared and served up by the Servant of all….and our King, like the prodigal son, welcome in Fathers arms.

I’ll miss not being with you all this weekend but know that I am with you in spirit.

Well said my friend. We are all stars and it’s time we treated each other that way.

Amon as jp says.Does he know what amon mens steve? But i do know what finished means.Does he know?Satan according to the book of hebrews was destroyed not will be?All was fullfilled at the cross including satan being destroyed.I think you call it the bottomless pit.God our Father had one purpose and that was to redeem us all and he did d it.Paul knew that satan held the entire world i bondage throught his lie.But God our father destroyed that lie and the one who produced it.christ came to redeem us from the lie of satan and never failed.I will not be labled like you said, steve.I have been made now by the blood of christ and thats where i’am resting. You know the Gospel is such good news even christians don’t believe it.It is only ignorance that makes a person think this way.As myself thought this way in times past.I for one don’t know what God our father is going to do with satan.but one thing i do know is he has taken him completely out of the way to get to us and redeem us all. There is only one ressurection steve and that was for humanity. What God our father does concerning Satans ressurrection is up to him.But it is not going to hppen as far as our father is concerned. We have the mind of christ lets use it.It is a god given gift.

Ther is a lot i want to say on this but have to go to bed.
We are made now by the blood of christ.
    Now rest.
    kenneth.

I know that this occurred Kenneth….

When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him. (Col 2:13-15 NASB)

All rulers who would usurp our rights as sons of God have been openly disarmed by the love and grace of our Savior. In Him we have been placed far above them. (Eph 1:2o and Eph 2:6)

We have been made joint heirs of life itself for death, the penalty for sin, has been destroyed

I believe Satan will be destroyed. See Revelation 20…

I don’t read anything in Hebrews saying that this has already happened. Yet, I do read in Revelation that it will happen.

    Will be destroyed????
Didn’t it say somewhere that THE LAST ENEMY to be destroyed was death?
So my question is this…. DID Jesus destroy death at the resurrection? If so then there are no more enemies. Only the ones we create in our on feeble minds.

    Peace
    Geo

Great comments from all my friends.Shelly,it lets us know in hebrews,..2v14, this,Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil.

So when do you think christ throught the power of death destroyed him?It does say when christ died does it not?

    Just a thought.
    thanks again for your comments.

I lean towards what Geo said that the only devil there is now is the one we create in our feeble minds. As the Lord renews our minds to the Truth of the Gospel of grace and peace, we see less and less of the “devil” and more of Jesus.

If some verse in Revelation seems to indicate it is future as mentioned by Shelly, then we have to look at Revelation and see when that whole event happened. It is a revelation of Jesus Christ to John and he received that revelation on the “Lord’s Day”. He penned it on the Isle of Patmos but he saw it on the day of the cross which is the Lord’s Day. John was on the Isle of Patmos because of what he saw on the day Christ died and because he preached that, he was exiled. If he only saw this after he was exiled, then verse 2 of chapter 1 would not make sense because he died on the Isle and he would not have had anyone to testify of this to. We must remember that the first verse of Revelation says what the book is about…….it is a revelation OF Jesus and it shows what John saw coming upon Jesus when He hung on the cross.

    Just my 2 cents worth.
