My Dad!

Going to the yearly family reunion last Sunday made me think a lot about my Dad this week. He’s been gone well over 10 years now and I still miss him so much. I credit my Dad for giving me the courage I needed to stand up and speak the truth of what I believe. He wasn’t a religious man (thank God), but what he was spoke volumes to all that knew him because he was real. He was loving and kind, and always ready to help someone less fortunate. I always thought to myself, “How could such a good, kind, and loving man not go to church”, but now I realize he couldn’t bring himself to be a phoney. He tried several times, but phoney was just not in his blood.

I don’t mean to say that all people who go to church are phoneys but the reality is that church environment oftens breeds phoney people. I long for the day when the church will quit its judging and condeming of others and just follow the only important thing, To LOVE ONE ANOTHER.

I think if my Dad were still alive he would say “Well done my son”. In fact, I think I just heard him say it.

I love you Dad.

One Great Family!

We all need one thing, and that is to be loved unconditionally.

Yesterday I attended our yearly family reunion in Danville, IL.  I happen to be a very fortunate person to be a part of a very large and loving family.  As I thought about all the different people in this family I couldn’t help but think about what made us so great.

It certainly could not be our agreement about life choices.  As I talked to different ones throughout the day I observed that some are republicans, some democrats, some independents, and some could care less.  Some had tatoos, and some hate tatoos.  some had piercings and others had none.  Some go to church and others choose not to.  Some are very competitive and others could care less about winining.  Some are straight and some are gay.

So, with all these different views about life, what then makes us such a great family?  WE LOVE EACH OTHER UNCONDITIONALLY.   I know with out any doubt in my mind that all my uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, or whatever the relationship to me, wish only the best for me and love me without any conditions.  I didn’t say they all would agree with all of my choices in life, but they would never let that interfere with our love for each other.

It is my opinion that God never ever expected us to agree, and in fact I think he placed us in a process where agreement would never be possible on many issues in life.  The challenge he has given to us is:  WILL WE LOVE EACH OTHER IN SPITE OF OUR DIFFERENCES?

Well, I am pleased to say that our family has answered that question with a resounding YES, YES, YES!!!!!!!!

My grandmother was Mabel Goodwin.  She has passed on but what she was while living was the greatest example of love that I have ever witnessed.  I have no doubt that she would be utterly pleased with the love that this family continues to show to each other and to the world.    Yes, I am apart of ONE GREAT FAMILY!

Thank-you Jesus for showing us it is possible to LOVE EVERYONE.

Love will find a way

Having escaped organized religion several years ago, and taking some time to detoxify from the anger and bitterness of feeling so cheated by a system that only sought to control and manipulate me through a hideous religion based on guilt and fear, I suffered through much pain… even agony. But, I soon found myself slowly but surely drawn into a love affair with the Source of my spirit… the Unifying Force of the universe… the Springwell of Life itself, and I have been given great peace.

This incredible change of Life (or Gift of Life) made me desire the same for others… especially those still trapped in the control of organized religion, seeking the life it claims to offer, struggling to fill the inner emptiness through rituals, ceremonies, and rules. I grew frustrated that they could not see what I saw, and could not understand the truths that had been revealed to me. I wanted to shake them, and scream into thier faces… "QUIT PRETENDING"!

But, the more God draws me into His heart through His message of Grace and Peace, the more I discover that I’m not so worried about others, or their view of God. I am content to let God be God, and just be myself… free to live a life in love, purposed to enjoy bonding with my Creator, and pulled into rest. As for my brothers and sisters in need of freedom from worry, and salvation from fear… Love will find a way.

To my religious friends. My wish for you is that you would find peace… real peace… and find yourself inexplicably in love with the One who loves you deeply, unconditionally, and totally. May you live free, and spend every moment smiling, knowing that fear is gone, and guilt has no grip on you. May you know that you are the perfection of righteouness in God, and there is nothing you can do to change that! Know that the heart of God lives with you, in you, and in everyone you see. May His heart in you love His heart in all others.

I heard an old song on the radio the other day. I had always liked the melody, but never really paid much attention to words. But that day, the words jumped out at me like a lion pouncing on it’s prey. WOW! Through that song, my heart melted and my eyes sobbed with joy!

LOVE WILL FIND A WAY
Pablo Cruise

Someone, someone’s got me wrong
You thought that your love was strong
Now you’re feelin’ like such a fool, poor you
You’re thinkin’ maybe if you said goodbye
You’ll understand the reason why
The love you had felt so cool, um hm

Oh but it’s all right
Once you get past the pain
You’ll learn to find your love again
So keep your heart open
‘Cause love will find a way

Sometimes we all feel a need to change
Our love we have to rearrange
And move on to something new, yes you do
Your dreams feel like they’re fallin’ apart
You need to find a brand new start
But you’re almost afraid to be true, to yourself

Oh, but it’s all right
Once you get past the pain
You’ll learn to find your love again
So keep your heart open
‘Cause love will find a way

Love will find a way
Love will find a way

So now don’t, don’t be afraid of yourself
Just move on to something else
And let your love shine thru
Again, yes ’cause it’s all right
Once you get past the pain
You’ll learn to find your love again
So keep your heart open
‘Cause love will find a way

He is Loveable

"I can’t love because I am ordered. Least of all can I love One who seems only to make me miserable here to torture me hereafter. Show me that He is good, that He is loveable, and I shall love Him without being told.

But does any preacher show this? He may say that God is good, but he shows Him to be very bad; he may say that God is ‘Love’, but he shows him to be hate, worse than any hate of man. As the Persian poet says; ‘If God punishes me for doing evil by doing me evil, how is he better than I?’ And it is hard to answer, for certainly the worst man would hardly torture his enemy, if he could, for ever. And unless God has a scheme that every man is to be saved for ever, it is hard to say in what He is not worse than man; for all good men would save others if they could…

It is of no use saying that God is just, unless we define what justice is. In all Christian times people have said that ‘God is just’ and have credited him with an injustice such as transcends all human injustice that it is possible to conceive."
