What is Reality?
What is reality? Reality is what we decide it is. You might search your entire life to understand what reality is and all along the way you hope and pray that there is some sort of absolute truth. Some are sure they understand and are confident in telling others but a wise man is one who finally comes to the place of absolute unsureness.
What can we really prove? Can we prove there is a God? Can we prove that love never fails? Can we prove any of the things that we so boldly proclaim? The answer for me is NO WE CAN’T. So, where does that leave us?
Well, some reach this point of unsureness and become atheist. Others just become disallusioned about life in general and give up believing in anything. As I write this post my words come from a heart that is totally and completely in a place of unsureness. I have no desire whatsoever to prove anything to anyone and yet I still sit here at my desk typing away.
Now if I am in a place of such unsureness why do I continue to write? The answer is simple. I believe I am exactly where my creator wants me to be. I no longer believe we were ever intended to have a set of rules or instructions about how we should or should not live this life. I believe we were created in the image of a CREATOR and that we were intended to CREATE our own lives.
I have complete control of what I want to think reality is. I have complete control of how I choose to see each moment. I love to refer to the beautiful story of Job because in that story he was taken to a place of complete unsureness and even in the end all he was given by his creator was more questions he couldn’t answer.
Jesus said he was the TRUTH (and the word truth means reality). When you examine his life you see a man who did not walk by the realities that others had set up for him and that took him to the cross. He walked by a drum that only he heard and it totally confused everyone around him.
I am not here at BoldGrace.com to get anyone to march to my drum, but rather to encourage them to hear their own drum, their own reality. I believe in my creation, my heart, my ability to see beyond the cloud of this world’s so called reality, and I believe the same thing about others.
Get up in the morning and see the life you have afresh. Choose your own reality. Let your heart be your guide and trust that you have been created to create your own path. WHAT IS YOUR REALITY? YOU DECIDE. Or you can continue to let those who are sooooo sure do it for you. But ask yourself this……How have the great religions and those that lead them been doing over the last several thousand years? Maybe it’s time you took your own shot at this beautiful thing we call life. Maybe that’s what God intended all along.
Peace to All and happy hunting in the land of reality.

Cliff,
Are you sure of your unsureness!? hahahaha!
GREAT Post! And you and Nancy are on our hearts this Holiday Season.
Peace
Geo
Now that’s the one thing I am sure of…….gets confusing don’t it?
Good stuff Cliff.
The reality of non-reality strikes hard, doesn’t it?
I keep coming back to an appreciation of whatever it is that keeps my atoms from flying apart in a zillion different directions. Something is holding me together. Thanks!
Cliff- This is a post that really resonated with me. The only thing I’m sure of is I’m not sure of anything…and I’m sure that tomorrow I won’t be in the same place I am today! This doesn’t bother me, as it would have a few years ago, for I am at peace with that.
