Where is God?

Just where is God anyway?  Go ahead, call on him to show himself and see what happens?  We read lots of stories where He has done just that and yet to my knowledge no one I have ever known has had God appear to them.  Oh, I know many will make the claim but talk is so cheap.  Would God show himself to some and not to others?

Today, my wife and I were having a deep discussion about something and she said "I wish God would show himself in this."  Well, the bottom line is that He’s not going to.  Now we can get real spiritual and talk about how we see God in all of life, in the birds, the trees, the grass, the sun, the moon, and a million other created things, but we don’t know that for sure do we?

No one that I have ever know has seen God.  Anyone who claims they have seen God you better watch out for.  You say, "Well the Bible says this or that about God and that’s good enough for me," but  believe me when I say you can make the bible say about anything you want it to especially when a great majority of the living world is ignorant of it’s teachings, and that includes most christians.

Now just what the heck is my point here?  My point goes along with my last post that spoke about my thoughts and choices are ALL up to me.  I do happen to believe in God even though I have never seen him.  I do happen to believe that God gives us all guidance in many ways, even though I often have no clue how he is doing it. I also have come to the conclusion that God wants each of us to use our good brains and hearts to find HIM.

Acts 17:26-28  From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live.  God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.

I am not trying to use the above scripture to prove anything, but I will say that my life’s experiences have led me to believe that the only way we ever truly see God is when we see our true selves.  We are always IN God.  We always LIVE in God.  We always MOVE in  God.  We always have our BEING in God.  WE ARE HIS OFFSPRING.

Organized religion teaches people that to find God they must follow their special formula.  They teach people they must go to a special place on special days to see God, and they always teach they must give their money if they really want to be close to God.  All of this is the greatest of lies ever told.

You don’t need any man to teach you about God.  Stop thinking God is going to reveal himself to you in some special miraculous way and begin realizing that He is right in front of you, in back of you, to the side of you, and inside of you.  In fact, He is so present that we are blinded by where He is. Remember Jesus spoke of this blindness.  God was in the flesh and blood and the most religious people of His day DID NOT SEE HIM.

Could it still be true today?  Where is God?  Do you see him?  If not, maybe you need to take off your religious blinders and you’ll find out He was always standing right beside you.

WOW! I was just getting ready to post about this!
I have come to know in my life the reason we do not need man to teach us. It for me is this…. When we finally understand GRACE we need NO ONE to teach us any longer. And though we no longer need anyone to teach us about God we will when we know GRACE learn from ALL!
My thought on GRACE was this…..

    GRACE: No Instructions Required
LAW: A lifetime of searching for the next newest teacher or thought that will give us finally the secret to knowing God and His will.

    Peace

I have seen you, Cliff. So, I have seen God.

I love what you’re saying here, and in the previous post. Thanks for those revelations.

Sorry I haven’t been around much. I have a couple web projects going on, and I took on a series of Point-of-Sales installations for a big drug store chain. So, I’ve been working about 15 hours a day for the last week or so. The POS installs are finished tomorrow, and one website will be done this weekend, so I should have more availability by next week.

Until then, I’ll be lurking in the shadows!

Wonderful post, Cliff. It is dripping with truth. We must realize that the search for God was never a long trek. HE IS HERE! Inside, outside, all around. Stop, take a deep breath, quiet your self, and enjoy. In today’s world, it IS difficult to “find” God. I think the key is quietness, meditation, whatever you wish to call it. We need to slow down, take time to “be” God. Like it says, “we are his offspring”. We have the exact same “DNA”. WOW! How exciting is that! Thank you Cliff.

    You’re on a roll, dude.

I was writing back and forth with a friend who was raised in a conservative Christian household and eventually left the church. We were discussing how our lives have taken different paths, but our connection to each other is still very strong.

He said, “You know, Michael, on the surface we seem so different spiritually, only to discover we have almost identical hopes and feelings. Maybe that’s where the divine has come in, after all.”

    I think he’s in a good place.

I wonder sometimes………..Technically Jesus was a man and yet you say dont listen to men to tell you about God, but isnt that exactly what you are doing?

  7. Cliffon 03 Apr 2008 at 8:10 am link comment

John T, Technically Jesus was not a man like any men I have known. Every man that I have known had a mother and a father of human flesh.
And yes, I also think a person who has lived in the remotest parts of the earth and never heard about Jesus will still be taught by God.

We could debate whether Jesus actually had a mother and father. The truth is, you or I dont really know. Thats why its called “Faith”. And by the way you dont know or ever did actually know Jesus. You know “about” him.

Getting deep. I know Jesus and I know God. The truth is revealed in my heart. I have all the proof I need. I find it in myself everyday. He reveals himself to me everyday. I see him when I look in the mirror. I feel him when I am in pain. I know him when I am touched by another person. The more good I do and the more love I gain towards myself and others is where for me it all makes our relationship more clear.

John T, I don’t believe I said I knew him as in meeting him, and knowing God or Jesus has never been for me about meeting them but rather about a relationship that as Mindy says is in my heart and you can’t possibly know what’s in my heart.

Ahhh……..now we get really deep……what you know of Jesus or God is what you decide your heart tells you. For others its not Jesus…..its Krishna or Yahweh or Buddha or Allah……..and the list goes on..

And Cliff……youre right, I dont know your heart.

  12. Cliffon 03 Apr 2008 at 10:51 pm link comment

John T, I have also studied Krishna, Yahweh, Buddha, Allah, and whole host of others as I asssume you might have. For a heart to really learn I believe it must be open to all truth where ever it comes from.

And John…..your comments are always welcome and accepted in the spirit of learning more of ourselves from ourselves as fellow travellers on this great journey.

    THATS RIGHT John!
Because that is where God IS!
The religious world teaches people not to trust their heart and then turns around and tells people to trust God. But if God is not in the whole of humanity then God is just some made up imaginary being that the masses use to get themselves through this life. Which could also be true!
But I choose to believe the God in me the Hope of Glory. And the God in ALL the Hope of Glory. But again I might just be a middle aged FOOL! hahaha!

    Peace

I feel like we as a human race struggle in this world because we are so afraid to trust ourselves and believe in ourselves. If we get caught up in what the “religious world” tries to teach us then we have learned nothing, but if rely on what our heart teaches us and our own minds then I truly believe we will have everything we could ever need to live.
