Also……………could someone explain something…..My understanding is that the Church(Ekklesia) is all the people on this earth. Does that not mean both organized and non organized people?

Personally, I try to differentiate between small-c "church"--which is the organized, conventional church; and the big-C "Church"--which consists of all the Christians on the earth. Ecclesia means "called ones" in the Greek, but is mistranslated as "C/church". The "called ones" are everyone, but especially Christians, IMO.

It's not the "verbal" that's the problem. It's the psychological and the interpersonal manipulations that lead to indoctrination.

What do you think they'd do if you stood up one day for an hour and told them how you really feel? I'll tell you, I cannot contain the zeal I have for the message of Grace and Peace... the real message as I understand it. Sadly, it is not accepted in most religious circles. And that's OK, they can believe whatever they want to believe. I have no problem with that. But, I can't sit silently by and not express my gratefulness for the understanding that I have been given. Know what I mean? If I must remain silent, I cannot thrive within that group. This good news is TOO GOOD to squelch!

Bruce

Im actually working on my Pastor to let us have an express your doubt day, and let us pose 3 questions from the congregation.

And as far as succumbing. Let me say one thing, if you ever had someone literally step on your throat. Verbal threats dont mean much lol.

You're a lucky one, John. Maybe the only one I know who can exist in that environment without succumbing to it. Good luck with that!

Hey, would your church allow you to address the body one sunday morning with your theology? It sounds like to speak to your "pastor" about it, but would they find it acceptable to preach it to all? Just wondering.

Cliff

Ok cliff.........Im not sure about you, but I definately dont have all my Sheit together. I am a work in progress. Also I am learning, and sometimes with great difficulty to cut others some slack or grace as we put it. I am not defending the nasty stuff my friends at the Church espouse and practice. I am defending the part of them that I feel is Loving. They sure as Sheit dont have it all together either. Believe this or not but my Pastor allows me to ask and speak freely about my beliefs or disbeliefs of his "faith". Not that he could stop me anyways, because Id probably tell him where to go :). The point Im trying to convey is that we all have our issues and some go deeper than others. I have No(not one) experience of someone trying to guilt me or put fear into me about God at my Church. Mainly because if they start to speak like that I intuitively shut my ears or tell them to stop. I didnt grow up in the Church. Also I know all about Fear and Domination from my Life experience and the Church aint got nothing that I cant handle.
Now with that said, there is much I love about my church and much I love about conversing with you guys and other bloggers. Little bits of God in all of us :)

Heres a funny joke for you

Looking for a quote for a website I'm building and stumbled across this:

All national institutions of churches, whether Jewish, Christian or Turkish, appear to me no other than human inventions, set up to terrify and enslave mankind, and monopolize power and profit.

Thomas Paine (1737-1809)

And another:

He who knows nothing is closer to the truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.

Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826)
