It’s funny, in one blogs I read, the author decided to leave the Evangelical church and become an atheist. Then he decided to return to a large demonination (they call themselves the only true church), and when that church tells him that he has committed a mortal sin by marrying his wife in a ceremony outside of that church, he is passionately trying to find the loopholes (or remedies) to finally gain acceptance by that church!

So the church heaps guilt, fear, and condemnation on a person, then pushes them away by labeling them as “bad people”, and placing overwhelming requirement on them. They make them struggle and fight to gain acceptance… to find inclusion… to measure up to their expectations. I guess I don’t understand why someone would desire to be a part of organized religion so badly. Seems like they are desperate to belong and find acceptance by an “authority”, and feel validated by a large (and wealthy) organization. I don’t know, I just don’t understand it. But, I do know that we are all affected by, motivated by, the culmination of our life’s experiences. And I guess this person is just programmed to “need” that in his life. I wish him the best of luck.
