Hi Geo! I appreciate hearing your thoughts on Ephesians 4:8. The book of Ephesians has much of value for us. Just before the verse you were considering, we find this (something I believe I have seen Cliff quote here, too):

“As a prisoner of the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” (Ephesians 4:1-3)

It would indeed, as you said and as these verses indicate, be heaven on earth if everyone realized their freedom in Christ!

I wrote this a few years back while studying the book of Ephesians:

    INDWELLING

    Emptied of self.
    Stripped of pride.
    Spirit can now
    Within reside.

    I’m called to live,
    Yet daily die,
    Empowered by Love,
    Exalted and high!

(May you all have a fabulous weekend!)

I like your poem, Connie. But sadly, most religions teach that this is something YOU have to do! They don’t often realize that it’s not something you do, but something that is done to you when you realize (have been revealed) God’s complete, unconditional, unearnable, full forgiveness.

I don’t think for a minute that any of us are capable of doing this for ourselves. But, when we are at peace with God, there is no reason to be full of self (so we are emptied), and no reason to be prideful, and no reason to live for self, because we are IN His life!

Geo, I like what you said, and it holds even more value as I listen to it again today. I encourage everyone who visits here to listed, and know that there is no reason to struggle for relationship with God… the answer is only to realize that it is already there.

    Sublime peace to all!
