Reincarnation for the Christian?

I strongly recommend the book "REINCARNATION FOR THE CHRISTIAN" by Quincy Howe Jr.

I don’t recommend it because I want or even care if others believe in reincarnation or NOT.  I recommend it because it offers people of honest thought the chance to exercise their free thinking ability.

You may say "Hey Cliff, I already do that".  But do you really or have you just bought into to what the Christian experts tell you is the correct history of Christianity.

According to Howe and many others there was quite the discussion going in the first five centuries about the possibility of reincarnation.

Origen of Alexandria was born around 184 AD and died in 253, probably as the direct result of his imprisonment & torture for his faith.  He was a dedicated teacher,a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, and a strong believer in reincarnation.

You see like many since the early times of the church anyone who dared to have an original thought was persecuted and often put to death unless they fell in line with the accepted wisdom of the day.

Did you also know that during the first five centuries the predominant thought was universal salvation for all until the powers that be decided they needed a HELL to keep people in line.

There have been many thoughtful and honest christians of thought down through the centuries that  believed in reincarnation but did not dare share their hearts out of fear.

What I like about this book is that Howe doesn’t try to prove anything.  He just shares some of the thoughts of great men of our past that believed in reincarnation and why.

The day of closed minds ended with the internet.  Now, anyone who really wants to investigate the questions of their heart can do so without feeling the fear that comes with doubting the status quo.

Allow me to quote a few words from the back cover of this interesting book:

Can one believe in the concept of reincarnation and remain a Christian.  The answer according to Dr Howe (a christian scholar) is: ABSOLUTELY!

To back up his claim, Dr. Howe cites chapter and verse from the bible that clearly indicates an understanding and acceptance of the rebirth theory.

Dr. Quincy Howe, Jr. is a graduate of Harvard, Columbia and Princeton Universities.  He received his Ph.D. while at Princeton.

All I want people who read this post to do is to realize that we have all been lied to over and over through the centuries by those who would force us to believe or be lost.  God gave all of us wonderful minds and hearts to help us find our way, and I don’t think He ever intended for a only a few to make all the decisions on matters of FAITH.

I’m sure many Christians out there will say that they now have the liberty to really speak their mind in church, and I really hope that is becoming more true, but I still think we have a long way to go.

I do have great hope for the future of open minded Christians because with the age of the internet there will be NO going back to the dark ages where only a few decide what we should believe.

If you don’t believe in reincarnation now, don’t worry about it, YOU WILL BELIEVE IN IT IN THE NEXT LIFE………ha ha

    I believe in being re-born.

It’s in the bible. Jesus speaks to Niccodemus about it.

Born once – die twice…born twice – die once.

Nice post, Cliff. Thank you for your willingness to express your thoughts and ideas. We will all experience “revelations” of our own, at our own pace. I, too, do not worry if someone disagrees with my own thoughts and beliefs. They are just as entitled to theirs as I with mine.

    and not one second sooner!

Thanks for the post Cliff! I remember someone bringing up a point that if humans have eternal life doesn’t that mean we existed before since eternity has no beginning or end. I have no idea and in light of what Jesus did for everyone at the end it doesn’t really matter. Another point I’m interested in is after this life is over do you think we will remember it?

Thank you Don R, I couldn’t agree more.

Kiara, I don’t think we will remember particular things or people. I do think we gain an imprint of the wisdom we learned while in this life on our spirit (which is eternal) and that imprint carries over to the next. That’s why you often meet people who seem to be wise beyond their years. We call them old souls because they have lived many times and learned much. JMO

Cliff, Put me down for at least 3 lives. I don’t find enough Bible verses against it. Many of us just need more time here. Plus the extreme feeling of our eyes and hearts being opened to complete revelation at death has to be quite a Rush or at least Rapture. We may find our selves screaming…”AGAIN”

The notion of Reincarnation… rebirth as understood by most is flawed. Most encyclopedias termed reincarnation as rebirth of the soul. When the soul atman never dies… the reincarnation rebirth of the soul simply cannot exist. Reincarnation is a universal concept not limited to any religion.

Our soul atman manifests the human body to work out its karma… remove the dross impurities within! As per Bhagavad Gita God Almighty ordained a journey of 1.1 million manifestations (earthly life cycle of 12.4 million years) to reach the stage of enlightenment… the stage when the soul atman liberates forever from the cycle of birth and death… regains its original pure pristine form forever!

The human form is manifested by the soul atman after crossing through a maze of 7.3 million manifestations as insect, plant and animal life. Out of a total of 8.4 million manifestations every soul atman manifests a total of 1.1 million manifestations in the human form before it reaches the last leg of cosmic life… the 8.4 millionth manifestation!

The moment human beings reach the 8.4 millionth manifestation… one gains Enlightenment (kaivalya jnana) and finally salvation (moksha). Here we need to realize… the form of a human being is simply limited by one manifestation… one life! In the world of souls’ atmans… the complete journey of 96.4 million years is one single uninterrupted span of life.
