Buddhist story: In a certain village, a woman lost her beloved son and was inconsolable for months. The rest of the village finally turned to a wise man for help in somehow consoling the woman. The wise man visited the woman and told her that he would make a healing potion for her. She just needed to bring him one object (any object) from a house that had not been touched by death.

The woman enthusiastically embarked on her journey and traveled a long, long time. She finally returned to the wise man in a state of deep calm. "There are no houses that have not been touched by death. I am not alone in my grief." The wise man nodded, and she left in peace.

Your story was strikingly similar to the last moments of my mother-in-law's life (to the point that it reawakened old tears) and I am reminded of the Buddhist story's conclusion: there are no houses that have not been touched by death. We are all in this together!

Peace to you and your family.

Cliff was an amazing husband, father, friend, brother, son and Man of God. My heart goes out to Tammy, Cliffy, Mindy, Amy, and Nancy....One of the most wonderful things that Cliff taught you is that stick together as a family and you can get through anything! He was a person that touched your heart as soon as you met him! Cliff and Nancy have always been an inspiration to me and my husband....They stuck it out through thick and thin and it means a lot to know that they made it 39 years!
Everyone knows that I love this family and I will always be here for any of them! Tammy has always been a dear friend and I cherish the time that I spent with this family! May Cliff look down from Heaven and be all our guardian angel. Love and prayers go out to the family!

Cliff was my minister at Straughn when I was a child. You may remember me as part of the James Gang (Cindy, Mike, Julie and Amanda) Mike is getting married next Saturday in Cincinnati so we won't be able to come th services. I remember your Dad teaching us songs, playing games, and always in a good mood. He gave me the foundation of my faith and helped start us on the right path. God bless you all and give you peace. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I worked with Cliff at Galileo Charter School....He was such a special man and had a heart of gold for all of the children who he brought to and from school! He always had a kind word and smile for me each day! I know that he woke up in the most beautiful place.... I love you Cliff!

I didn't hear the news until this morning. Hugs. Cliff was such an inspiration and I know his spirit live on and won't be forgotten. Cliff, thank you for sharing the wonderful hope you have. I know we'll meet in person on the other side of this life someday.

Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Cliff was such a dynamic man, and I know that he live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Please tell your mom that if she needs anything to please feel free to give me a call. As your father was, she is a woman of amazing strength!
