Tale of Two Travelers - You Have Not Because You Ask Not!

This is a tale of two travelers. A tale of two people who went to a state not there own. The first went to this state and although he know he had friends in that state he did not call to see if they were close to where he would be. After all he would not want to burden or bother his friends.

The second traveler sent an email to his friends the very day of his arrival asking the friends if they lived close to where he was going to be working. To his amazement they lived only 10 minutes from the very spot he was working at! And guess what? His friends asked him the weary traveler to come to their house for dinner! WOW! Without even asking could he visit his friends asked him to come to dinner!

I am the second traveler! This week I emailed Mindy & Dink Hill on the very day I was in their town and they invited me to their house for a GREAT Meal of mashed potatoes and Meatloaf! MAN WAS IT GOOD! Then we spent 2 hours talking of life and about Mindy’s dad Cliff. Cliff was my BEST FRIEND! Man do I miss him! Cliff as most of you know was Mindy’s Dad. I guess this post is to say…………. ASK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If in doubt ASK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I did and it resulted in two WONDERFUL hours! Thanks Mindy & Dink!!!!!!!!!!!!

Peace

Clifford L. Hazelbaker II

We will be having a celebration of Life ceremony Saturday, April 25th, 2009 (4:00p.m.-??) It will be held at the American Legion located at 109 North 6th Street, Richmond, Indiana 47374. We will laugh, sing, cry and tell amazing stories about Cliff! We will have pictures and videos so we can share some of his incredible moments with all of you.

Clifford L. Hazelbaker II, 57, of Richmond was born January 13, 1952 and was reborn on April 16, 2009. Cliff was the son of Clifford and Barbara (Goodwin) Hazelbaker. Cliff graduated from Centerville High School in 1970. He was married to Nancy McBride Hazelbaker on March 6, 1970. They recently celebrated their 39th Wedding Anniversary. Cliff enjoyed spending time with his incredible family. Their family motto is “Love Never Fails!” He also enjoyed sharing his love of God on www.boldgrace.com. Here is an excerpt from that site… “Clouds don’t seem to care where they’re going. They are content to follow the directions of the spirit of the air, enjoying the journey as they make their way to their purpose. Though they are unaware of their designation or their purpose as they travel along, they find themselves eventually called upon to join forces and deliver liquid life to the earth. Often exhausted, they whither and die, having given all of themselves in doing their work. But, as those clouds die, others are reborn from their seed to carry on the purpose.” Cliff is survived by his wife Nancy ; Mother, Barbara; Children: Tammy (Bob) Thompson of Centerville, Clifford (Bridget) Hazelbaker III of Richmond, Mindy (Charlie) Hill of New Carlisle, Ohio, Amy (Todd) Witter of Bath, Indiana; He is also survived by 9 grandchildren: Josh, Jacob, Paige, Samantha, Clifford IV, Abby, Emma, Lilly and Phoebe. Brothers: Andy (Teresa) and Doug (Cindy) Hazelbaker.

Dad was reborn at 6:40 this morning with all of his family around him singing you raise me up. It was the most beautiful thing we have all ever witnessed. We will see you again Daddy.

Sometimes

Sometimes a person will comment here on BG and the comment is so WONDERFUL & INSIGHTFUL that it need to be seen as a Front Page Post. The following is from our friend Audrey.

The sign for our age is that a virgin shall be with child. The story of Mary is a picture of us and what is happening to us today. Mary’s name means bitter rebellion. (against the sham and hypocrisy of this world and it’s way of thinking). She was a virgin (we are all virgins because we have not yet birthed our spiritual identity, only our humanity). Mary was betrothed to Joseph (his name means to add or augment). Joseph had a dream and in the dream was a message to Joseph, son of David (well-beloved, loving) not to be fearful because Mary had conceived spiritually and would bear a son whose name would be Jesus (Savior of the world) Immanuel (God with us). Joseph rose from his sleep (he woke up to see with his spiritual eyes), took Mary who rode on a donkey (lacked understanding) to Bethlehem (the house of abundance especially bread). There was no room at the inn (our head type of thinking is unable to‘see’ these spiritual things), but there was a manger (our hearts) surrounded by the animals (our emotions). There Mary began to labor (those mixed emotions and spiritual aches we have) and a boy child ( of the spirit) was born, and she called his name Jesus, the ‘star’ child. He was the ONE who would rule over the house of Jacob (the flesh) forever. There were shepherds, wakeful - keeping watch over their sheep in the night (darkness - no truth). Suddenly the glory of the Lord shone round about them (they became spiritually aware) and the message of the birth of Jesus was given ( they knew who he was and where he was). Wise men (men who have been watching for this sign) came also bearing gifts - gold (spiritual awareness, clear sky) frankincense (purity) and myrrh (sweet smelling oil). These gifts are the feelings that begin to rise up within your heart as you turn from your humanity (worldly thinking) to your heart (your true identity where Truth resides).

THANKS Audrey!

This is one that I will think on a great deal in the coming days and weeks.

Peace

I AM THANKFUL!

I have to say that I am incredibly thankful for this life that I am a part of.  Now that doesn’t mean that my circumstances have always been so pleasant  because I have also know days that were far more difficult.
One thing that I have learned over the last 56 years is that being thankful really has nothing to do with circumstances, good or bad.  Being thankful is a choice and I am so glad that I learned that lesson early on in life.
Paul said in 1 Thess 5:16-18   16 Be joyful always; 17 pray continually; 18 give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
The above scripture may be one of the greatest truths that anyone can believe to find peace on this earth.
"Give thanks in ALL circumstances."
To be able to give thanks in all circumstances one must have faith that looks beyond what is seen and rely on something that you know will get you through whatever comes your way.  That’s why I believe with all my heart that God provided all of us that very something in the person of Jesus Christ.  He provided a perfect life, a life so powerful that it would be able to justify every man or woman who has ever or will ever walk this earth.  There is no sin too big or circumstance too difficult for our Lord and Savior.
Rom 8:38-39 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
There are some that claim to be followers of Jesus and yet they believe he only had the power to save a few.  How could we ever be thankful in ALL circumstances if we don’t believe HE is Lord of all circumstances?  I have sadly seen many a Christian who grew bitter when the circumstance of their life became hard, and why shouldn’t they when they are told so often from the pulpit that God only blesses those who believe enough and have enough faith?  Of course, they are never told just how much they have to believe or exactly what is defined as a faithful life.

Well, here is the good news.  Jesus is Lord of all circumstances.  He did believe enough.  He did have a perfect faith.  And He does stand by our side in the hard circumstances, and the easy ones, and He has made it crystal clear that He will see us through regardless of how difficult it may seem.

We do have a decision to make, and this decision will not change the final outcome because that has already been decided by what Christ did at the cross, but making the decision to be thankful in ALL circumstances will give us an incredible peace as we journey here on earth.

So, as I said earlier, my present circimstances are really wonderful and I am incredibly thankful, but if things change tomorrow, I know I will still give thanks because I have a PERFECT SAVIOR who walks with me through whatever comes my way.

Thankyou Lord Jesus that we might choose to celebrate EVERY day with THANKSGIVING IN OUR HEARTS.

Sound bites

Over the last week or so, I’ve been keeping track of some things I’ve said in conversation with others. These are by no means original thought. They are sayings that have rattled around in my brain through the last few years, some coming from my friends, some from various books, and some from my heart. But, sometimes I write something, and find the resulting verbiage remarkable! Sometimes, I’m not really sure where it came from, but it was the perfect thing to say at that time. So, I jot them down so I can remember. And now, I share them with you. Use them freely in your own conversations, and please add you own through the comment section! Thanks!

  • Freedom is only for the free.
  • If your salvation is determined by "what you believe", doesn’t that make you responsible for your own salvation? And if only God can save someone… doesn’t that make you God?
  • You can only know if your love for God is genuine if you understand that he loves you completely and deeply, and without expectation or requirement.
  • Love is a response, not an action.
  • If you think God doubts you, then you will doubt God.
  • If you know that God loves you, then nothing else will matter. If you don’t know that, nothing else will make any difference.
  • Is God’s love so fickle that he only loves those who love him first?
  • God in me loves God in you.
  • Only love can birth love.
  • Christ was the greatest teacher of the Law. He expanded on the depths of its purpose to the point that everyone had to admit that complying with it was far outside their grasp. He pushed and pushed and let them fester in their fears. Why? Because he needed to set the stage for a redeeming event! He used their religion against them to show them their self-righteousness and cause them to cry out for a savior!
  • The definition of "self-righteousness" is when we think we can influence God’s thoughts for us, or against us.
  • The concept of Universal Reconciliation doesn’t imply that God forces everyone to choose him. It simply states that God chose us! Why? Because he created us in perfection, and loves what he created.
  • God says that we should love others, even when they fail us. It is possible that he holds himself to the same standard?
  • If you think God will hate you because you don’t believe the correct things, you will give yourself license to hate others because of their incorrect beliefs.
  • True belief can only exist when the requirement to believe is removed.

The Airplane Trip

I so respect what Cliff wrote in his post "My Last Post"

And I too have felt that way for a long time. Then yesterday The Airplane Trip from Califorina to Pennsylvania gave me something I have not had in a long time. The opportunity to share with open minded people in public. One was a 12 stepper one was a wife of a pastor in California who heads a church with some well know Hollywood actors as members and friends. I am still processing the whole thing and when I have the trip sorted out I will post about it and how one 5 1/2 plane trip gave me hope for the future. Let me just say that the Message of Bold Grace is spreading! Until that post…..

From our friend Carlton Pearson:

First they Laugh at You

Then they Ignore You

Then they Fight You

Then You WIN!

Peace & Love
